Message from the President

The Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra is still in need of your assistance. For the past several years, the Board of Directors has been losing members - terms have expired; people have moved or have had major life changes. However, with several recent additions to our ranks, we now have six people on the board; we would prefer to have at least nine members to help direct the operation of your community orchestra.

The Pops is one of only a few community orchestras that do not require monetary contributions from its board members; the only donation we ask for is time. Musicianship is not a requirement to serve. I hope you will consider joining our Board of Directors. Board meetings are held on the second Monday evening of each month, and last only about 60 to 90 minutes. There may be some committee work needed between our monthly meetings, but since the main business of the orchestra is music performance, we are able to roll along with a light hand on the guidance of the group. We meet at 7:00 pm the second Monday of each month in the Pops office, located at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 17405 NE Glisan St., Portland.

Please consider helping us out as either a committee member or as a full board member in the very near future. The group continues to need guidance as we continue our twenty-sixth season of "...enriching our community through music". You may send an email to our orchestra manager, Marilyn Pierik, or myself at the address listed on the contacts page.
