October 11th, 2011
An unfortunate number of our guests ran afoul of Mt. Hood Community College’s new parking fee during the performance of our concert on the 9th of October — any of you who were ticketed for parking in a lot that was not reserved for us (and the reserved lots filled up quickly) may send your citations to: “Mt. Hood Community College, Attn: Public Safety, at 26000 SE Stark, Gresham or 97030” with a note that you were attending our concert; the person in charge of Public Safety has promised to take care of them for you. All of our guests were supposed to be able to park without a permit or penalty. The capacity of the lots reserved in front of or near the theatre was inadequate; the “A” lot, reserved for Pops players and volunteers, was suitable for overflow parking, but quite a hike away from the theatre. The Pops would like to offer its apologies for this problem; it is all new to us too, and we hope to have a better experience at our Christmas concert in December.

Musicians in our community are encouraged to contact us for information on joining the orchestra. There are currently openings in the trumpet, horn, and all string sections. The first three rehearsals for each concert are open to all - contact info is under the CONTACT US tab above. If you haven't played since high school or college and are looking to regain your musical chops, we’d love to have you join us.

As always, we thank you for your continued interest in and support of the Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra.

We are seeking enthusiastic musicians to join the orchestra at this time of growth and development. Please contact Marilyn Pierik for more information.
